Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park

Well because the little fella Harrison was in hoispital this year, we couldn't get into the Sculptures by the sea. So instead I went for a walk with these three little creatures just up the road, to a place called Sculpture Park in Middleswan. Now we had been here before but not for a few years, so it was time to update the photo album. So with Sarah, Harrison and the Osk, and a little homemade picnic off we trod just up the road. This Gallery is owned by a fella called Ron Gomboc who showcases different Australian and International artists, some of the sculptures were amazing and others..... well yeah i'll let you deciced.

Here's Harrison n' Sarah next to a metal whale tail thingy, which I reckon looks real beaut.

Then theres this 'The Pot will Fly' by Yoshio Nitta - Japan, which i'm not to sure about... but thats art yeah!

Now here's Oscar with one of the old camel's which have been here for years, now about this Gomboc Gallery which is just up the road from our place. It's located in Middleswan and sits on 4.5hectares, so it's pretty big and spread around which wears out the kiddies a bit... good.

'Natures Balance ll' by R.M. Gomboc. This is the sort of sculpture that yours truly likes, i'm not to sure what it is or what it repersents.... but it looks real beaut hay.

Now the Gomboc Gallery is FREE to the public which is why were here! and also gets my thumbs up for letting the kiddies look about. Now there is a few indoor galleries with heaps of paintings and more sculpture stuff, but with three little neviles (thats thirty little inquisitive fingers) I don't push my luck just in case something smashes!!! You know the old chestnut 'You drop it, you pay for it'. Well crikey some of these things come with price tags more expensive then me friggin' commodore, and just for an idea can you imagine having this sculpture in the backyard! I'm not sure what this one is called but i'd call it something like 'Big round thing with teeth', come to think of it you could just call it 'Oscar'.

But to be fair dinkum this sculpture is my best one form the day, like I said I don't know it's name but it looks real beaut hay.

'People' by Koichi Ogino which is one of the sculptures that keeps changing over time, which is one of the best things about the Park. Constanly over the year thay change exhibitions, so theres always something different to have a gander at.

I'd call this one 'Whatcha-call-it'.

Now I know what to call this one 'Skippy', or you could go for a more tradational name like 'Roadkill'.... I like this one.

Then we come to a sculpture like this one and .... sorry call me old fasion but it's really just a twisted piece of metal, which just happens to be painted yellow. But to an artist 'eye' it would be a different ... 'This piece being religious art based on the cultureal celebrated influence of modern-day human forms this classical imagery of metal is a dynamic movement of indictment with materialism, and an iconic figure which includes celebrated architecture seeking to create a transformative experience for the viewer'.... yep, or as we call it a twisted yellow piece of metal!

'Birdfrom' by R.M. Gomboc. But some of these sculptures are quiet beaut to the eye, like this one from the owner of the Park.

Steel sculpture by Jean-Pierre Rives - France

Now this one I can relate to a lot more then the others, as it looks like something you'd find around any farm house in the bush.

But all good things have to come to an end and as the clouds start to cover the sky, we start the short walk back home before it rains. And yes it was a great day out (not just because it was free..... well) but because the kiddies had fun just walking about having a look at some very strange stuff, some very strange stuff indead.
